I was reading a funny article in the September 2008 issue of Reader’s Digest called “Thirteen Things Your Computer Person Won’t Tell You”. The third one really hit home with me. And I quote; “We’re like Santa: We know if you’ve been bad or good. Fessing up to what really happened right before the system crashed is going to save time—and I’m going to figure it out anyway.” Now that’s a good one.

But I have a few of my own, having been in the computer business awhile, so here goes:
Please don’t bring your computer in to find out what’s wrong with it, and then announce that “now I know the problem with the dang thing, my boy’ll fix it.”

It’s people like this who forced us to slap on a $ 50.00 diagnostic fee. We would never have dreamed of charging a fee “just to look at it” until we ran into folks like this. But examining a computer to diagnose a problem takes time; time we could spend on the people who DO want us to fix their problem.

And another thing, if “your boy” was any good with computers, he could have told you what was wrong with it in the first place, saving you a trip to our office. So there.

Well, I feel better now...gotta go. Will rant again tomorrow. Have a great weekend!
